Core 1
The objective of the CPA Canada PEP Core 1 module is to provide you with a complete understanding of the most fundamental concepts in financial accounting and reporting. The Core 1 final exam is four hours with 75 objective format questions and one 60-minute case. The Core 1 case will assess competencies mainly in Financial Reporting but will integrate one or two other technical competency areas. Per the CPA Canada Core 1 exam blueprint, the competency area weightings for the objective format questions are:
- 50-70% Financial Reporting
- 10-30% Audit and Assurance
- 10-20% Taxation
- 5-10% Finance
Core 2
The objective of the CPA Canada PEP Core 2 module is for you to develop competence in the areas of governance, strategy, risk management and management decision-making. The Core 2 final exam is four hours with 75 objective format questions and one 60-minute case. The Core 2 case will assess competencies mainly in Management Accounting but will integrate one or two other technical competency areas. Per the CPA Canada Core 2 exam blueprint, the competency area weightings for the objective format questions are:
- 50-70% Management Accounting
- 10-30% Strategy and Governance
- 15-20% Finance
- 0-10% Financial Reporting
CPA PEP Core 1

Can I work through the Densmore EDGE course at the same time that I am in the CPA Canada PEP Module?
You can use the Densmore EDGE course as a supplement to the CPA PEP module work, or you can choose to use the EDGE course before starting the CPA PEP module to get your technical and case writing skills up to speed.
How long will I have access to Densmore’s PEP Module resources?
By default, access to the Densmore EDGE courses expires one year from the date of purchase. However, if you are still enrolled in the CPA Program, you can email us at info@densmorecpa.com to request an extension to your EDGE course at no charge. The stand-alone Densmore PEP Practice Exams expire on the date of the next CPA PEP Module exam, as they are intended for practice prior to writing the exam.
